The Culture of cplace: How Freedom, Commitment and Mission Make the Difference

July 16, 2024 | 4 min

In the dynamic tech metropolis of Munich, specialists navigate through a wide range of modern employers. As a medium-sized software company, cplace also faces the challenge of attracting qualified personnel and retaining them in the long term. At a time when the shortage of skilled workers and inflation are making themselves felt, material incentives are becoming increasingly important when choosing an employer. But that’s not all: the world of work has changed fundamentally, and employees no longer aspire to a traditional office life with a daily commute. Many companies have already responded and offer attractive salaries, flexible working hours, remote working and various other benefits to retain employees in the long term.

But even despite this range of benefits, employees decide to change their employer. One possible explanation for this lies in the design of the corporate culture. This is a decisive factor for the success of a company and employee satisfaction. For example, employees who rate their company positively are 50% less likely to change employers.

At cplace, we are very proud of our low employee turnover. In this blog article, we would like to give you an insight into our culture and explain the role that freedom and trust, commitment, mission and purpose play in this and how they help to build and develop our #bestteam in the long term.

Before that, it’s worth looking at some figures: we are a roughly ten-year-old software company in the B2B segment in the field of project and portfolio management. Our customers include many Fortune 500 and DAX 40 companies. With almost 200 employees, of which more than 100 have been hired over the last three years, we present ourselves as a growth company with a clear mission.

Freedom and Trust

We do not place excessive emphasis on detailed guidelines that unnecessarily restrict the scope of action. Instead, we rely on the trust and responsibility of everyone. Of course, we have regulations and processes in place to promote our professionalism and obtain quality certification. However, we are careful not to excessively restrict freedom of action. Our focus is on taking responsibility and making decisions in consultation with the right stakeholders.

We value the strength of diversity and accept the different requirements of different positions. This also applies to the organization of our working hours. We value both the benefits of remote working and our modern office environment. Therefore, we trust our teams to design their own mix of remote work and office work to best suit their and our needs.

Commitment

In our software company, we see commitment as a mutual obligation – not only for the employees, but also for the employer. Our understanding of success is based on team play and the conviction that joint achievements pave the way to sustainable success. We therefore not only hold on to our employees, but also take private circumstances into account. For example, some team members work a 4-day week, while others can work from a different location, work more remotely or develop in a new field of activity. To this end, we jointly evaluate which solution suits all parties best, which contributes significantly to maintaining the commitment of our employees and a lasting working relationship.

Mission & Purpose

With our cplace product, we go beyond conventional approaches and focus on curiosity, unconventionality and the willingness to break new ground. The modularity of the platform allows flexible adaptation to individual requirements. Real-time collaboration, the ability to design processes yourself and a unique development community are just some of our USPs that make cplace an innovation leader. With cplace, we have transformed the project lives of many global players and written a unique success story. This ongoing mission gives us purpose and motivation. With our technology, we enable users to participate individually and thus increase the efficiency and satisfaction of all people involved in projects.

With a brief look at the past and current successes, this section leads into the future. cplace sees innovation not just as a snapshot, but as a continuous process. The platform is constantly evolving, driven by the team’s curiosity and willingness to break new ground. Looking ahead shows that cplace is not just offering a software solution, but a long-term partnership for digital change. The latter is still omnipresent and illustrates the meaningfulness of our product as a sustainable innovation for Next-Generation Project and Portfolio Management. This gives our employees the prospect of being able to develop themselves and their area of responsibility in our environment in the long term.

Conclusion

Our corporate culture is characterized by freedom and trust, commitment as well as mission and purpose and thus makes a decisive contribution to the success of the company. These factors enable us to attract and retain specialists in the long term, even in times of skills shortages and changing working environments. The emphasis on freedom and trust enables employees to act and make decisions on their own responsibility. This not only promotes diversity and flexibility within the company, but also employee commitment.

The mission and purpose of cplace go beyond offering software solutions. This not only creates a perspective for our employees to develop within the company in the long term, but also promotes motivation and cohesion within the team. As a dynamic company, we constantly encounter new challenges. This is a natural part of the journey of a scale-up that wants to establish itself as a market leader. Ultimately, our goal at cplace is to create a working environment in which we can tackle these challenges together, while our employees can enjoy their work and continue to develop.
