The word <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.duden.de\/rechtschreibung\/Inkrement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8220;Increment&#8221;<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> comes from Latin and means &#8220;increase&#8221;. Fittingly, each increment increases the scope of the project or the number of available functions, i.e. an increase in value in the product. In <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cplace.com\/en\/glossary\/scrum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Scrum<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, for example, an increment is the expected result of a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cplace.com\/en\/glossary\/sprint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Sprint<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Program increments usually have a duration of eight to twelve weeks and follow a recurring pattern that typically consists of four development iterations: project planning, development, testing and adjustment (Plan, Do, Check, Adjust).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Similar to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cplace.com\/en\/glossary\/iteration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Iteration<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for an agile team, a program increment for an Agile Release Train (ART) represents a fixed period. The ART comprises the specialist personnel required for the implementation. It includes the planning, development and validation of a complete system increment, including the demonstration of progress and the opportunity for rapid feedback. Each program increment follows this fixed sequence to ensure synchronization of all teams in the ART.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\t\n\n\t<section class=\"snk-section snk-section_slimOnSingle snk-section_noTop\">\n\t\t<div class=\"container container-sm\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"snk-section-headline\">Program Increment and SAFe <\/h2>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row snk-textColumns\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col col-12 snk-textColumn\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"snk-textBlock snk-textBlock_slim\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cplace.com\/en\/glossary\/safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> uses the concept of program increment as a central element in its methodology. Similar to the general understanding described above, SAFe defines a program increment as a time-bound stage in which an ART delivers incremental value in the form of working, tested software or systems. Within a program increment, the various agile teams work together within the ART to enable coordinated development and integration of features or functionalities.
