Silo Mentality

cplace Glossary

What is Silo Mentality?

The term ‘silo mentality’ describes the inwardly oriented organizational departments and areas in the company that pay too little attention to external relationships. Communication problems as well as the lack of cooperation between individual and other stakeholder groups as well as the development of their own culture are among the typical characteristics of such organizational units. This can result in rivalries that make it impossible, for example, within a business unit or within a group, to achieve the higher objectives.
