A major German automaker used Excel to map and manage the scheduling and technical planning of its entire product portfolio. Team members had to retrieve changes to be made to the long-term plan from meeting minutes and transfer them into an Excel document, which resulted in a considerable amount of manual rework. In many situations it was therefore impossible to get a real-time, up-to-date overview of the current planning status.
The company initiated a process to identify a state-of-the-art software solution to replace Excel and remedy the situation. collaboration Factory was able to present a cplace prototype within as little as two weeks, developed in a Rapid Prototyping project. The application covered all the basic requirements and included the data model for the given use case.
